GAZES

Profound gazes that seem to see beyond the visible, gazes that appear to connect the soul more than the eyes, gazes that are meeting points, connections between two great artists who come together, interact, and mutually enhance each other. These are the gazes we appreciate on the stage when we see these two great artists: Alejandro Hurtado, guitarist, and Inmaculada Salomón, dancer. Both have abundantly demonstrated their unparalleled quality, each on their own. But in this encounter on stage, they multiply rather than just add, they enhance each other, creating that magic that transports the audience, who watch those gazes while listening to the music and appreciating the subtle movements of the dance, into that inexplicable dimension, into that world of sensations and evocations that turn those moments into a unique, personal, and unrepeatable experience.

The show, recently premiered at the Teatro Real in Madrid with resounding success, offers us a carefully selected and varied collection of guitar pieces. We can listen to works from the pre-flamenco era, such as the Solea by Julián Arcas that connects the tradition of classical guitar with the emerging flamenco of the late 19th century, masterfully choreographed and danced by Inmaculada Salomón, to pieces that reflect the most current way of composing in flamenco, such as the compositions by Alejandro Hurtado himself. Alongside these, we can also hear other pieces from the great masters of flamenco guitar, as well as from classical music, such as Manuel de Falla or Francisco Tárrega.

It is precisely this duality, this unusual deep knowledge of both the world of flamenco and classical guitar possessed by Alejandro, that sets it apart from other flamenco proposals that we can find today. Because that duality, that knowledge of both classical and flamenco worlds, is also possessed by Inmaculada Salomón, the first dancer of the National Ballet of Spain. That's why bringing these two artists together on stage has created a show in which the classical and flamenco worlds, both in music and dance, are enhanced, creating a universe of unique and unparalleled images and sounds.

A constant in Alejandro Hurtado's professional career is the intention to give the guitar the maximum prominence. Avoiding the common and easy practice of filling the stage with instruments, he always wants to present the guitar with absolute prominence, only reinforcing it in some pieces with the subtle percussion of David Dominguez. Only his exceptional talent, technique, and emotion in his performance allow his guitar to not need any more support or reinforcement to make us enjoy the music.
